Dear local official,
The County Reassessment project is well underway, and our data collection phase will continue as we work our way through the entire county. We will be starting data collection in Summit Township in the coming weeks. All parcels (improved and vacant) will be visited to verify/correct existing descriptions and take new photographs.
As each improved property is visited, a “door hanger” is left at the property. Later in the project, owners will receive a “data verification mailer” so they can review information about their property and tell us things about the property we might not know – particularly issues that could affect a probable selling price. They will have another chance for an ”informal review” when they receive a proposed value.

Since a countywide reassessment is revenue neutral, it won’t produce new income for taxing bodies, but it will shift taxes from one taxpayer to another within each taxing district as we work to comply with the PA constitution’s mandate that property values and taxes be uniform on similar properties. Accuracy and Fairness is the goal.
